To mark the celebration of its 15th year anniversary, the International Facility Management Association Singapore Chapter (IFMA) held its inaugural Singapore Facility Management (FM) Awards 2016 last Friday September 30th 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. Co-organized with Conference & Exhibition Management Services Pte Ltd (CEMS), the inaugural Singapore FM Awards 2016 was held in conjunction with The 4th International Facility Management (iFaME) Expo 2016 and the 3rd International Facility Management Conference (IFMC) 2016. The two events were part of a mega show which presents six of the leading architectural and building services shows and twelve key conferences for these industries, under the auspices of the Architecture & Building Services 2016 Series (ABS Series 2016) which was launched September 28th 2016 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
The ABS 2016 Series was spearheaded by the ArchXpo 2016, co-organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects and Conference & Exhibition Management Services (CEMS). It is one of the key pillars of the Archifest series organised by the Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA). The exhibition represented a key gathering of industry experts and talents which made for excellent architectural and built environment design, as well as an invaluable platform for the exchange of research and innovation in architectural design, practice and education
Opened to all FM Training Institutions, FM Service Providers and FM Building Owner or Facility Occupier in Singapore, the Singapore FM Awards 2016 recognizes those at the forefront and have made significant contribution to the knowledge, practical application and sustainable performance of the Facilities Management industry in Singapore. Benchmarked as the industry leading awards for Singapore, the awards seek to identify the industry leaders, promote excellence, encourage innovations and raise professional recognition in the FM industry as well as across the building and real estate sectors.
The Singapore FM Awards 2016 saw a total of three categories which are grouped under the three themes of training, service quality and, the success of development & implementation of FM programmes by FM teams.

1. Singapore Best FM Training Instituttion of the Year
- Singapore Best FM Training Institution, Winner of the Year 2016 - SIM University
- Innovation Excellence Award - Temasek Polytechnic
- Enterprise Excellence Award - FMS Associates Asia Pte Ltd
The Award recognizes training institutions in the FM industry that provide demonstrable commitment to improving the knowledge and skills of their people. This category highlights the outstanding institution which shows long-term commitment to training and development which go well beyond the basics and contributes to the persons’ or trainees’ career development, as well as raising the standard of FM practices.
2. Singapore Best FM Building Owner/Occupier of the Year
- Singapore Best FM Building Owner / Facility Occupier , Winner of the Year 2016 - Marina Bay Sands Pte Ltd
- Operation Excellence Award - Mapletree Investments Pte Ltd
- Innovation Excellence Award - National Gallery Singapore
This Award recognizes that the success of a facility or a building depends greatly on the FM programme developed and implemented by the FM team. It showcases the FM team which executes superior FM strategies which add value to tenants, users and occupants.
3. Singapore Best FM Service Provider of the Year
- Singapore Best FM Service Provider, Winner of the Year 2016 - Cushman & Wakefield Facilities Engineering (S) Ltd
- Business Continuity Excellence Award - CPG Facilities Management Pte Ltd
- Operation Excellence Award - ENGIE Services Singapore Pte Ltd
This Award recognizes the importance of service quality provided by a service provider to meet the customers’ business objectives and expectations. Focus is placed on service provider who delivers an excellent customer service that brings added value to their clients, be it through innovative solutions, state-of-the-art technologies or industry best practices etc.
