With over 20 years procurement experience and 13 years working for leading facilities management provider EMCOR UK, Alison has been a member of the FM Leadership Group, part of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, since 2015. EMCOR UK is a founding Partner of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, and a key catalyst in EMCOR UK’s development in this field was becoming one of the first FM companies to achieve BS 8903:2010, a comprehensive framework that helps enable managers to put the theory behind sustainable procurement into practical action.

Commenting on her selection, Alison Bettany, said: “I’m honoured to become Chair of the FM Leadership Group of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, and look forward to helping expand the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s membership and deepen the collaboration with the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s Partners and other sectors in the Supply Chain Sustainability School by sharing knowledge and common themes, as well as a commitment to increasing engagement between existing Partners through greater communication. Additionally, my approach aims to create a reciprocal relationship between the Supply Chain Sustainability School and its members, where businesses are encouraged to contribute and challenge ideas, while the Supply Chain Sustainability School provides support and listens to their requirements.”

Keith Chanter, CEO, EMCOR UK and member of the Board of the Supply Chain Sustainability School, stated: “As a member of the FM Leadership Group since 2015, Alison has played a pivotal role in contributing to its strategy. Her active support in helping to ensure the sustainability of the supply chain, as well as her role in promoting learning and development using the FM Leadership Group of the Supply Chain Sustainability School’s resources by setting up workshops and supplier days, such as The Business Case for Sustainability in FM, have been instrumental to the organisation’s success.”

Mark Turner, Sector Manager – FM, Supply Chain Sustainability School, said: “We’re delighted Alison has accepted the position of Chair of the FM Leadership Group of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. She’s been involved in most aspects of the FM Leadership Group of the Supply Chain Sustainability School since its formation and has shown a high level of commitment to developing greater sustainability knowledge and performance in the FM supply chain. Alison’s breadth of experience will help continue to drive the momentum and achieve the long-term vision of the Supply Chain Sustainability School to become the go-to sustainability resource for all suppliers and customers over the next few years.”

The Supply Chain Sustainability School is an initiative which represents a collaborative industry approach to developing sustainability competence in the supply chain. For its part, the FM Leadership Group of the Supply Chain Sustainability School aims to develop a more responsive FM sector, thus playing an important role in delivering a more sustainable future. It is also committed to achieving a more holistic approach to sustainability within the industry, covering a broad range of issues, including Energy and Carbon, Fairness Inclusion and Respect and The Modern Slavery Act. From a standing start just over two years ago, the Supply Chain Sustainability School now has 22,000 registered members and 65 Partners on board.
