About The German Public Safety Digital Radio Network (Digitalfunk BOS)
The German Public Safety Digital Radio Network is the largest radio network worldwide that is based on the international TETRA standard (Terrestrial Trunked Radio). With this network, police officers and others have access to a modern and versatile communication medium. The technology makes it possible to communicate across organisations throughout the country, which simplifies the execution of complex deployment scenarios – especially in the event of crises or catastrophes.
The German Public Safety Digital Radio Network comprises more than 4,600 base stations in all areas of Germany (as of March 2018). According to the Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio (BDBOS), this ensures radio coverage for 99% of Germany by area.
Some 50 million radio messages are broadcast via the network every month.
