ABM UK Junior Engineering Engagement Programme Welcomes First Graduates

On Wednesday, thirty-six school children from West London graduated from the world’s first Junior Engineering Engagement Programme (J.E.E.P), which first started in January 2018. The programme seeks to change perceptions of apprenticeships and make a real impact in the engineering and facilities management sectors by making use of the expertise offered by ABM UK employees. The graduation follows research highlighting that sixty per cent of young people were unlikely to consider working in the engineering and facilities management industries, fuelling the creation of a skills gap.

Kier Signs Up to UK Care Leaver Covenant

Kier is the first company in the United Kingdom's built environment sector to support 16 to 25-year olds who have spent time in care, through the Department for Education’s Care Leaver Covenant. Confirmed in Birmingham last week, the agreement seeks to support care leavers with opportunities internships. apprenticeships and other opportunities to enter the workplace. Kier will also provide additional one-to-one mentoring and pastoral support to complement further education and training.

Mitie Awarded £32 million Waverley Property Management Contract

Mitie’s property management business has secured a new contract with Waverley Borough Council worth £3.2 million a year following a competitive tender process. Mitie will provide and manage repairs and maintenance as well as offering void property protection for the Council’s 5,000 properties in Surrey over an initial five-year term with the option to extend for a further five-years. In partnership with Waverley, Mitie’s team will be co-located with the Council’s teams at its head office in Godalming.
