RoSPA Award for Serco's Forth Valley Royal Hospital Team

Company News

Serco’s team at Forth Valley Royal Hospital has won the prestigious Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award for maintaining the highest health and safety standards at the hospital - for the sixth year in a row.

Serco has provided a range of facilities management services - including cleaning, patient catering, portering, security and maintenance - at Forth Valley Royal Hospital since its opening in 2011.

The RoSPA Awards scheme assesses businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas on their performance in maintaining health and safety standards.

The small number of organisations selected by judges Gold Award winners are judged to have achieved a very high level of performance, demonstrating well-developed occupational health and safety management systems and culture, as well as outstanding control of risk.

Commenting on the award, Tony McLaughlin, Serco Contract Director for Forth Valley Royal Hospital, said:

“Our team are passionate about maintaining the highest standards of health and safety so that we can provide a truly safe and caring environment at the hospital for patients, visitors and staff. We could not be more proud to have been awarded the Gold Medal for the sixth year running and it’s brilliant to see the team’s hard work receive such prestigious recognition.”

The award came during a special year for the family-safety charity RoSPA, as it celebrates it centenary. Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said:

“The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.  This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year”.
