ESS General Manager to Run London Marathon
Karl Smith, general manager of Compass Group UK & Ireland’s defence and government catering subsidiary, ESS, will participant in The Virgin Money London Marathon on 28 April to raise money for SSAFA – the Armed Forces charity.
Smith who has raised two-thirds of his £2,000 target for the event, has previously supported the Army Benevolent Fund by taking part in marathons and the six-day WW1Wheels on the Western Front charity bike ride in 2016.
The general manager of an Army training centre prior to joining Compass, he also served as an army chef for more than two decades and participated in a tour of Afghanistan.
