Mitie Appoints Head of Defence

Antelme, who previously served as the managing partner of consultancy firm, Skarbek Associates, has held senior business development and external affairs roles in the energy and security sectors, and formerly spent 18 years in the Armed Forces, including UK Special Forces, where he worked in multi-agency and international operations, both in combat and advisory roles – and was awarded the DSO for strategic leadership in 2007.

He brings a wealth of knowledge in the defence sector to the new role where he will be responsible for strategic development of Mitie’s Defence business, including demonstrating capability to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO).

Mitie was recently appointed to the Crown Commercial Service Framework for Defence. This includes engineering services for the DIO which manages land and buildings across the Ministry of Defence estate, including living accommodation for service men and women

Announcing the appointment, Simon Venn, Chief Government and Strategy Officer, said:

“Charles brings first-hand experience in the defence sector and his expertise will be invaluable in supporting our future growth. The creation of this new role demonstrates our commitment as a strategic partner to the Government by broadening our services.”

Antelme added:

“I am delighted to have joined the team at Mitie to help develop and deliver a first-class Defence service.  We have the people, experience and technology in place to take advantage of the opportunities the CCS framework offers and enable us to deliver the ‘exceptional every day’ in this sector.”
