Eco-Conscious Workwear
Aramark has partnered with recycled materials textile solutions manufacturer, Unifi, Inc., to launch a new clothing range.
The WearGuard® Eco Collection of “eco-conscious” apparel is made from recycled fiber blends, including traditional recycled polyester, oyster shell polyester and Unifi’s REPREVE® moisture-wicking fabric which has been manufactured by recycling 15 million recycled plastic bottles.
Manufacturing recycled blends keeps waste out of landfills and require less water and energy to produce in a process that emits lower volumes of greenhouse gases. By way of example, recycled polyester requires 90 per cent less water and 85 per cent less energy to produce than polyester, and reduces CO2 emissions by between 50 and 60 per cent.
Commenting on the partnership, Brad Drummond, Chief Operating Officer for Aramark’s Uniform and Refreshments sector, said:
“Our customers are more environmentally conscious than ever before and this exciting new solution is one way we are responding to an increasing demand for sustainable products.
“I couldn’t be more excited about this new offering and how it will help reduce our customers’ impact on the environment while continuing to provide them with comfortable, stylish, durable apparel options.”
“This approach supports our commitment to reduce waste before it is generated and to make the world a better place for our associates, clients, consumers, communities and the environment.”
