Shell Malaysia Safety Award
A commitment to employee safety and worker welfare have won Safeguards G4S a Silver Award at the prestigious Shell Malaysia Safety Awards.
During the last three years, Safeguards G4S has implemented a range of health and safety initiatives as part of G4S’ widerĀ We CareĀ programme which provides for first aid training and upskilling and installation of more prominent safety and hazard signs across company facilities.
The G4S subsidiary in Malaysia has also recorded fewer reportable workplace incidents and, significantly for the awards panel, no fatalities or serious injuries in 2017.
A new road safety programme and policy is also credited with halving the number of serious road traffic incidents involving Safeguards G4S either on or off company premises.
Speaking at the ceremony, Herman Kok, director of health and safety at parent company, G4S Plc, said:
“Our team in Malaysia has demonstrated an unwavering passion to improve the safety of their work.
“They have managed significant road safety risks with a large fleet of vehicles and motorcycles.
“The number of lost time injuries has steadily reduced through a sustained and tenacious effort by managing director Nick Sharma, HR Director Ragvinder Singh, Health and Safety Manager Sinnatambi Rajoo and the rest of the team.
“This is an extremely important milestone for us. It is recognition of the progress made in the last four years, during which time all of our employees have helped us improve health and safety standards. I would like to thank Shell for this award.”
Chairman of Shell Malaysia, Datuk Iain Lo, added:
“I am proud of this event which is growing from strength to strength with the continuous support from our contractors and partners but, most importantly, in their commitment and dedication towards upholding the ‘Goal Zero ā No Harm, No Leaks’ safety principal.”
The SMSA awards recognise Shell business partners and contractors in six category areas. Safeguards G4S was the only “Corporate Category” award winner this year.
