SMC Upgrades Alarm Receiving Centre

Carrier UK subsidiary Security Monitoring Centres Limited (SMC), has completed a major refurbishment and re-fit of its Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) in Nottingham.

The upgrade includes new servers, computers and screens, including the addition of a new video wall. The entire IT infrastructure has also been replaced to further enhance the reliability and integrity of the systems installed.

SMC has also addressed the working environment by installing ergonomically-designed seating and desks for up to 72 operators, and lighting that is designed to combat  the potentially damaging effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) – a mood disorder in which people with normal mental health throughout most of the year exhibit symptoms of depression at the same time each year (usually in the winter).

SMC managing director, Colin Walters, says:

“With almost a quarter of a million intruder, CCTV and fire monitoring connections, SMC already has a deserved reputation for the quality of services we provide.

“Following this upgrade, we will be able to extend the services of this state-of-the art facility to both existing and new customers.”
