Helping to Prevent Cancer

A new 3D breast scanner at Darent Valley Hospital has been made possible by donations to its charity’s Cancer Fighting Fund by local businesses, including Artic Building Services.

Representatives of the hard services provider which arranged a series of fundraising events that were supported by staff and clients, attended the unveiling ceremony in Kent.

The digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) was acquired for £74,000 and will allow clinical staff to benefit from detailed, 3-D mammographies of breast tissue, which are used to detect cancer early and improve patient outcomes.

Speaking at the event, a spokesperson for Darent Valley Hospital, said:

“We really couldn’t have raised such a fantastic amount of money without the support of our fundraisers, including Charlotte Pinder and Lee Rumble from Artic, who took part in a ‘Cycle to Amsterdam’ bike ride, and Artic Building Services who very kindly sponsored us.”
