Supporting the UN’s Sustainable Development Agenda
Independent UK caterer Bartlett Mitchell has committed to aligning its activities with seven United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
The commitment published in its 2019 CSER Report includes pledges to reduce deliveries to its sites by 5 per cent this year by promoting a ‘maximum drop’ campaign; a programme which sets a delivery target for each site (2018: 7.4 per cent); reduce food waste by 4 per cent (2018: 2.63 per cent); and recycle at least 20 per cent of waste cooking oil (2018: 18.75 per cent of waste oil recycled which achieved saving of 70 tonnes of C02).
Bartlett Mitchell founder, Wendy Bartlett, says:
“Sometimes it is better to do simple, small, things and do them very well as that ultimately has the most impact. This has been our approach to CSER.
“Our corporate mantra, ‘What gets measured gets done’, means we will easily be able to measure how aligned our activities are with the UN’s SDG.
“This, in turn, will provide us with clarity of purpose”.
