Tech for Good Award
Sodexo has achieved 10th place in this year’s eCAC40 ranking of the digital performance of France’s biggest companies, with its data-driven food waste prevention program receiving a “Tech for Good” award at a ceremony organized by Les Echos.
The eCAC40 programme evaluates the comparative digital competitiveness of constitutent companies of France’s CAC 40 stock market index by assessing digital performance and their capacity to accept digital transformation. Sodexo has been steadily climbing up the rankings since first being listed in 27th place in 2017.
Recent digital intiatives from the goup include the adoption of virtual reality (VR) technology in kitchen safety training, and the launch of an innovative e-learning platform which provides Sodexo employees with a “Digital Passport” providing insights into digital transformation at the company, as well as practical tools for enhancing digital skillsets.
Launched in May 2019, the company’s WasteWatch powered by Leanpath food reduction programme allows Sodexo teams to rapidly and easily capture food waste data, and provides insights into what is being wasted in kitchens and why. With this new understanding, teams are able to implement targeted operational and behavioral changes to help end waste generated by kitchens or customers. A pilot of the programme reported a 50 per cent reduction in food waste at participating locations.
