Aramark in Veterans Recruitment Drive

Following the involvement of its employees in activities to mark Veterans Day today, Aramark has announced it will be recruiting thousands of former armed services personnel in 2020.

The initiative, which is part of a wider campaign to diversify Aramark’s workforce, follows several volunteer projects over the Spring.

During today’s commemorations, Aramark worked with Operation Yellow Ribbon to send care packages and personalized messages to soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines deployed around the world, organised a donation drive for service members currently serving overseas, created 1,000 Veterans Day postcards for distribution to  service members, and held a tribute performance by employee singing group, InTune, at its global headquarters in Philadelphia where representatives from Operation Yellow Ribbon were presented with donations from employees.

Three hundred volunteers additionally assembled 1,000 hygiene kits to support veterans at Justa Center, in Phoenix, Arizona, with 24 volunteers cleaning WWII fighter planes used in the aviation park at Chennault Aviation and Military Museum in Monroe, Los Angles. At Bakersfield in California, volunteers could also be seen assembling 30 boxes of snack pack kits which included hygiene supplies to support U.S. Army soldiers.

Commenting on the new recruitment drive, Lynn McKee, Aramark’s Executive Vice President of Human Resources, said: “veterans are disciplined team players who have built their careers around serving others. They are a great asset to our organization”.

Aramark has also announced volunteer employees will take part in “Wreaths Across America” wreath-laying ceremonies at cemeteries on December 14th.
