The Critical Role of Cleaners in Defeating COVID-19

Incentive QAS, the contract cleaning division of the UK’s Incentive FM Group, has expanded its training operation in response to rising demand for professional cleaning in community-critical buildings during the COVID-19 crisis.

At the start of the pandemic, Incentive QAS published emergency Covid-19 guidelines and best practice protocol for its 1,000 staff across the UK, underlining the appropriate solutions and equipment needed for specific premises. As well as ensuring all staff members were given full personal protective equipment, the company also secured a number of pallets of hand sanitizer that were immediately made available for its large client base to protect critical workers and commercial staff across the country.

With significant contracts with police forces and fire stations across the south-east of England, Incentive QAS has also taken the decision to upgrade its equipment to ensure the safety of staff and clients. With the virus affecting police station holding cells, the number of requests for deep cleans has never been higher.

Jamie Wright, Incentive QAS managing director, says:

“The demand for pre-emptive cleans and deep cleans in fire stations, custody suites and commercial buildings has increased significantly. The Covid-19 pandemic has meant that lots of our clients are ordering more services from us, and we’re training more and more staff to be able to deliver this.

“Our role in making sure important premises like holding cells are safe and sanitized is crucial at this time.

“To ensure these rooms and buildings are cleaned sufficiently, we’ve distributed battery powered back-pack sanitizers – as well as fogging machines that fill a designated space with a solution that neutralises every surface inside.

“We know it’s going to be a slog for the next few months, but we’re prepared and the safety and wellbeing of our staff and clients is at the forefront of our operation.”
