From Lab Coats and Coveralls to Scrubs and Masks
Aramark’s uniforms division has reconfigured production lines to manufacture essential personal protective equipment (PPE) for hospital and other frontline personnel combating the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.
The division, which ordinarily produces work shirts, pants, coveralls, and lab coats, has been repurposed to reverse-engineer, prototype and manufacture a range of medical masks, scrubs and isolation gowns – with employees receiving training last week.
Garments and other essential gear are being made at plants in Mexico, with the company supplying the pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device sectors in addition to the healthcare market.
Commenting on the development, Aramark CEO, John Zillmer, said:
“As the country pulls together to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to be able to assist the brave frontline workers who need it most.
“It’s this selfless passion for service that defines our Company and we are proud to do our part during this extraordinary time.”
