Lutron Electronics has announced the U.S. and Canada launch of Athena, the company’s first significant commercial lighting system release since the 2018 acquisition of “natural LED” lighting manufacturer, Ketra.
Seamlessly integrating electric and natural lighting with Ketra smart shading technology, Lutron describes the solution as providing provides a significant extension to the lighting possibilities currently available to architects, interior designers and lighting contractors embracing biophilic design.
Ketra’s dynamic Natural light capabilities are preset to alter as each day progresses, creating harmony between interior light and natural daylight, and ensuring building users feel in tune with nature.
Simple scene and zone programming is provided via an iOS app, permitting lighting adjustments to be made “on the fly” for special events without affecting system presets.
Lutron is targeting its new solution at small architectural spaces, including restaurants, museums, boutiques, open office spaces, and corporate headquarters as it utilises small processor with minimal footprint that can be hidden discretely in small spaces.
