Serco Invites Nominations for Healthy Communities Grants

Serco Australia is accepting nominations for its Healthy Communities grants program for not-for-profit organisations engaged in health and wellbeing activities Perth’s South Metropolitan region.

The programme which provides grants of up to AUD 1,500 is managed by the Serco team at Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH).

Serco FSH Contract Director, Helen Robinson, comments: “Serco’s Healthy Communities grants program helps not-for-profit organisations and community groups to promote health and wellbeing through positive lifestyle measures.

“These grants tie in with the important work that Serco does as the facility management provider at Fiona Stanley Hospital to help provide the best possible experience for patients and visitors.

“Many community groups have come under pressure in recent months due to increased demand for their services and declining donations.”

“Serco’s Healthy Communities grants program will assist organisations that need some extra support to be able to keep a program or service going or launch something new. Whether it’s sporting equipment, resources for art or music therapy, gardening tools, building supplies or support for event that will bring people together, the role of community groups and not-for-profits is more important now than ever before.”

The Healthy Communities grants program is open to not-for-profit organisations including schools and community groups, that deliver services in the South Metropolitan region which incorporates Melville, Cockburn, Kwinana, Rockingham, Canning, Fremantle, Baldivis, Warnbro, Jandakot, Willetton, Willagee, Victoria Park, Cannington, South Perth, Southern River, Riverton and Bateman.

Some examples of the types of activities or programs that have been supported by a Serco Healthy Communities grant in the past include: 

  • Food processors for Palmyra Primary School 
  • Support for the Out of the Blue exhibition put on by Friends of Rockingham Arts Centre Inc  
  • Aboriginal women’s art therapy group at South Lake Ottey Family and Neighbourhood Centre 
  • Building repairs at the Fremantle Men’s Shed  
  • New cricket gear for the Hilton Cricket Club 
  • Support for the Weld to Life program run by PCYC Rockingham
