BMA Awards Hard Services Contract

Artic Building Services have been awarded a 5-year contract to deliver mechanical and electrical (M&E) and maintenance services at the British Medical Association (BMA) headquarters in Tavistock Square, London.

The BMA is the professional body for doctors and allied medical professionals in the United Kingdom.

The 5-year contract was awarded through a competitive tender process conducted by the association and its facilities management consultant.

Artic proposed delivering M&E services to SFG20 guidelines and frequencies supplemented with other important items of specialist compliance maintenance provided by a group of specialist partner companies. The company will install three residential engineers at the Grade II listed site to cover all PPM and reactive works managed and guided by a site dedicated contract management and administration team.

The BMA specified a contract predicated on a highly professional approach to service delivery which could be relied upon to maintain and extend the smooth operation of the building’s plant and to ensure full compliance with all relevant UK legislation at all times. During the tender process it also focussed on how Artic can support BMA to deliver a more sustainable future, aiming to work in partnership with the organisation on energy saving initiatives in line with their energy management and environmental impact reduction strategies.

Derek Parker, Head of Business Development at Artic, explains: “The British Medical Association were looking for a partner to develop a condition-based approach to their maintenance regime with the consequential reduction of the overall environmental impact of the BMA House. The Artic proposals offered highly competent engineering and management of the BMA assets with a closely personal and collaborative approach which had been missing from the previous service provision.”

Ian Wade, Head of UK Estates for the British Medical Association, adds: “We welcome the change in service provider to Artic Building Services.  We are looking forward to working with them in improving the service provision to our Estate and supporting in our energy and sustainability plans over the coming years.”
