Supporting a Greener Economic Recovery

Tim Duret, Director of Sustainable Technology at Veolia UK and Ireland, comments ahead of Recycling Week 2020 in the United Kingdom from 21-27 September.

2020 has been the year that the environment has taken centre stage and sustainability is at the forefront of everyone’s minds.

Spending more time at home and recognising the importance of our basic materials and key jobs has led to a renewed appreciation for our resources. We need to build on this momentum and deliver on our recycling targets.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)’s Resources and Waste Strategy is paving the way for a greener future.

It is imperative in guiding the UK towards our goals by incentivising manufacturers to be more sustainable, eco-designing products and encouraging greater recycling.

From producer, to consumer to waste manager, everyone is gearing up to make sure our recovery and future is green.
