Smart Sensor Wins BCIA Award

Sontay’s Smart Sensor for intelligent building applications has been selected for a “Technical Innovation of the Year” prize at this year’s virtual Building Controls Industry Association (BCIA) awards

The BCIA awards’ panellists commended the company on its innovative sensor which enables greater comfort and control for end users and makes it easier for facilities managers to monitor data.

Smart buildings are becoming increasingly more commonplace, with sensors such as the one provided by Sontay playing a vital role in analysing and responding to a building’s changing conditions. With a greater demand for smart sensors, it is no wonder Sontay’s unique solution has been recognised and applauded by industry experts.

Commenting on the award, managing director, Mark Newton, said: “We are thrilled to have won this award. It is a testament to the quality, innovation and expertise of the Sontay brand and its people.

“Our Smart Sensor truly sets itself apart from other products on the market, and it is wonderful to see it’s been recognised by the sector. It is capable of working over BACnet and Modbus networks, which are key protocols in the Building Controls industry right now.

“Smart Sensors are in higher demand than ever with the industry trends moving to this method of communicating data and making compatibility easier for installers and customers. When comparing installation costs of traditional two or three wire analogue signal sensors to that of a Sontay Smart Sensor savings of 60 per cent can be achieved.

“We have been listening to our customers and have dedicated a vast amount of time and development in manufacturing a product that meets their requirements. We are so glad to have been rewarded for all the hard work we do.”
