LED-Powered Fly Control
Rentokil Pest Control has launched Lumnia Suspended, the latest innovation to its UV-LED-powered fly control range.
The ceiling-suspended unit is designed for back-of-house and production environments which have a zero-tolerance requirement for pests. Using the elegant design of Rentokil’s customer-facing Lumnia range, Lumnia Suspended provides effective control of flying insects, while blending seamlessly into its surroundings.
Designed with multi directional UV-LED attraction, for an efficient, proven catch-rate, the Lumnia Suspended is a flexible solution, providing two different options to manage fly insect populations – encapsulation or glue board versions. The encapsulation module traps insects on an adhesive film that automatically winds onto a clean glue surface. This hygienically contains caught flies and prevents any insect fragments leaving the fly control unit, thereby reducing the risk of cross contamination.
In addition to its high performance and elegant design, the solution also aligns with businesses’ sustainability objectives. The unit uses three powerful 10W LED lamps that are highly attractive to flying insects yet use a very low amount of energy when compared to other light traps. As a result, it can save businesses up to 50% on energy costs compared to traditional fly catchers – reducing carbon footprint while saving on bottom line.
Lumnia Suspended is perfect for commercial environments such as food processing, pharmaceutical, industrial or warehousing facilities, as it provides effective fly control, giving peace of mind to a business’ customers that its premises are hygienic and compliant.
Berwyn Evans, Head of SME for Rentokil Pest Control, explains: “Businesses are under more pressure than ever trying to balance issues such as hygiene compliance and sustainability amongst other commercial objectives. Lumnia Suspended is part of our UV-LED range of fly control products that help businesses more effectively manage flying insects to keep their premises hygienic and compliant. The UV-LED technology requires significantly less energy to run, so businesses can reduce their environmental footprint and operating costs at the same time. In November 2019, Lumnia was internationally recognised by The Planet Mark for demonstrating 62% lower carbon emissions when compared to units containing compact fluorescent lamps (CFL). In addition, Lumnia won the Queens Award for Enterprise for Innovation in 2020. The ceiling-suspended unit not only creates a far bigger catchment area for flying insects and a higher catch rate, the addition of the encapsulation module reduces cross contamination risk to make it a more hygienic solution.”
