Renewable Energy Engineering Firm Relocates to Central Leeds

EV charging and photovoltaic solutions provider The Phoenix Works has moved into 18,209 SF premises owned and managed by Towngate PLC in Leeds.

The 10-year lease involves a high-spec unit on the Turnkey Park estate in South West Leeds which features a large, self-contained front yard, two storey modern office accommodation, a trade counter, and two roller shutter doors.

The new tenants join several existing occupiers of the park, including Salon Services Ltd, Lifting Gear UK Ltd, and TLA Distribution Ltd, with Ferrari, Makro, and Topps Tiles in the vicinity.

The Phoenix Works was founded in 2010 with a goal to encourage and enable homes, workplaces and public sector buildings to embrace renewable technology. Specialising in designing EV charging, and solar and battery storage solutions, the firm serves clients including the  NHS, Royal Mail, Uber and the University of Leeds.

Commenting on the move, Matthew Morgan, operations director, says: “Our move to Turnkey Park signifies the next step in our ambitious plans for the organisation. Over our 10-year history we have seen the adoption of renewable technology steadily increase, and now more than ever, climate change is at the forefront of people’s minds.

“Expanding into this new space will allow us to scale and deliver more projects to meet the demand from customers making the transition to sustainable energy.”

Tom Lamb, property manager at Towngate PLC, adds: “We are delighted to welcome The Phoenix Works to the Turnkey Park estate, and I am sure that the excellent location will prove to be of tremendous benefit.

“The unit had been vacated unexpectedly during the pandemic, so it is a reassuring sign that it’s occupied once more and will be utilised to its full potential. We’re further encouraged that during these turbulent times, we’ve been able to assist another company to move their business to the next level.

“Renewable energy is an industry very close to Towngate’s heart as we commence the roll out of additional electric car charging points within our portfolio, and we look forward to witnessing the inevitable growth of this sector as we work alongside The Phoenix Works over the next ten years.

“Our special thanks go to Dan Walker, our retained agent at Gent Visick, for his continued hard work.”

The business park benefits from excellent access to both the M621 motorway at J1, just one mile away, and the lively Leeds city centre, a mere 2.5 miles northbound.
