Mace Announces Senior Appointments

Mace has announced the appointment of Hannah Vickers as Chief of Staff, and also appointed Andrew Smart as Head of FM Consultancy within its facilities management business, Operate.

The Chief of Staff position is a new role for Mace and will directly support Group CEO Mark Reynolds and the Mace Executive Board across a number of high priority external and internal programmes.

Vickers, who takes up the new position in July, will be tasked with helping to embed the company’s new 2026 Business Strategy across Mace’s four Engines for Growth; driving growth and the delivery of our purpose and strategic priorities, with a particular focus on the net zero carbon agenda, construction to production and digital and data.

She will also take on a number of other major external and internal responsibilities, including expanding and deepening the Group’s relationships with target clients and senior industry and Government stakeholders. Internally, she will lead a number of major internal change programmes, driving operational efficiency across Mace and working closely with the Executive Board.

Vickers joins the group from the Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE), where she has served as Chief Executive since 2018. In that role, Hannah has led the creation and delivery of ACE’s ‘Future of Consultancy’ programme, reshaping the future of the built environment consultancy sector.

She has also provided significant direct support for the Construction Leadership Council on a number of programmes, including taking a lead role in the creation of ConstructZero, an industry-wide programme to address carbon emissions in construction.

Andrew Smart’s appointment follows the publication of Mace’s 2026 strategy, which sets out a five-year vision for refocusing the business and embracing new sustainability and diversity targets.

Re-joining Operate after 10 years, Smart will bringing his vast experience in the industry to lead the service offering. He will lead the business’s growth plans globally, solidifying its role in workplace experience management.

He has previously held roles at CBRE, Cushman and Wakefield, and Sodexo, and is recognised as a thought leader across the FM and workplace industry after featuring as a speaker at several industry events.

In 2017, Smart was recognised by the Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) for his work, receiving the ‘Leader of The Year’ award at their annual ceremony.

As Head of FM Consultancy, he will grow and develop the global consultancy team and the service offer in line with Mace’s strategy, to adopt new technology and approaches that focus on creating the best possible end-user experience in the most sustainable and effective way.

Smart says: “I am delighted to re-join Mace at a crucial time of growth, helping clients to transform their workplace experience and driving optimised and sustainable solutions for global corporate occupiers.

“Mace’s Operate business already has an enviable reputation as a long-standing partner of choice for some of the world’s biggest brands. I am excited about the opportunity to build on this and to drive our Facilities Management Consultancy business to be the leading provider of intelligent solutions and advisory services to clients across the globe.”
