Butlin’s Invests in Air Purification System for Covid Safe Reopening

Butlin’s, Britain’s iconic holiday brand, is to introduce a pioneering air purification system as part of extensive measures to ensure a safe reopening this summer.

The system, which is being fitted in event venues at Butlin’s Bognor Regis resort by Clenzair, purifies and decontaminates the air and claims to neutralise 99.99 per cent of viruses, bacteria, gases, odours, mould and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in the air and on surfaces.

The technology used by Clenzair is already widely used in offices, schools, hospitals and other community spaces around the world. Google, Harvard University and several other organisations in the United States already utilise the filtration technologies.

Jon Hendry-Pickup, Butlin’s managing director, comments:

“Butlin’s has always focused on innovating, and we’re delighted to be working in partnership with Clenzair to trial this cutting edge technology in Bognor Regis.

“Our guests told us that they felt really safe and secure as we reopened last summer after the first lockdown.  This year we want to go even further to ensure everyone can enjoy that Butlin’s experience, safe in the knowledge that we’re looking after their wellbeing.

“Purification technology is used widely in commercial environments, particularly in the USA, but has so far received limited use in the UK. The pandemic has heightened demand for such systems and we’re pleased that an iconic brand such as Butlin’s is at the forefront of this development. Once we’ve had time to assess how the system operates in our large event spaces then we’ll look at rolling it out at our other venues.

“The countdown is now on for our grand reopening on May 17, another important development as we look to deliver the best Butlin’s ever for 2021.”

Laurie Mcilwee, Clenzair director, adds:

“Clenzair technology neutralises viruses and provides cleaner, safer air. The patented needlepoint bipolar ionization (NPBI) technology can be found in more than 300,000 installations worldwide including the White House.

“It has been a pleasure to work with Butlins who are leading the way, in the UK, to make indoors as safe as outdoors for its customers and team.”
