Operating a Green Fleet

Terminix has recently been named one of the most eco-friendly companies in the United States for its commitment to green vehicles.

Taking 4th position in Automotive Fleet magazine’s annual “Top 50 Green Fleets” listing of the largest fleets in the country, Terminix operates a fleet of over 11,000 vehicles servicing customers across the country.

The fleet which includes 6,604 green vehicles consists predominantly of flex-fuel vehicles, and includes 405 hybrid and 15 bio-diesel vehicles. In 2021 3.7 per cent of the entire fleet have been converted to use hybrid fuel technologies, with a target of 8 per cent set between now and the end of 2022.

Jim Summerville, senior vice president of Supply Chain Management, comments: “Terminix is honored to be recognized on this prestigious list alongside other organizations that are working to minimize their impact on the environment.

“Terminix remains committed to our environmental responsibility and adopting eco-friendly business practices. As leaders in the global pest management industry, we are doing our part to protect the environment, in addition to the families, businesses and communities we serve.”

Kate Tooley, group director of Fleet Management, adds: “At Terminix, we are very conscious of the responsible use of natural resources, including fossil fuels.

“By using eco-friendly vehicles, we can shrink our carbon footprint significantly. Limiting our greenhouse emissions not only helps our environmental sustainability efforts, but it also streamlines our operations by reducing operations costs.”

In April 2021, Terminix further enhanced a policy commitment to corporate sustainability which has resulted in a reported reduction in greenhouse emissions every year for the past three years.
