Transport & Logistics Businesswoman of the Year

Rachel Houghton, managing director at Business Moves Group (BMG), has been named ‘Transport & Logistics Businesswoman of the Year’ at the inaugural Great British Businesswomen awards.

The awards showcase role models, advocates and mentors; as well as inspirational women who are leading businesses or ‘ascending to new heights’ under multiple categories from a range of sectors.

Houghton’s application detailed her journey through BMG where she has held several positions in project management, operations and sales, before her appointment first as commercial director and then managing director. During her tenure, Houghton has overseen a restructuring and rebrand of the company, and the growth of its various divisions.

The panel of judges for the award which included representatives of ACAS, BFI, Diversity UK, Hearst UK, and WarnerMedia cited Houghton’s performance in steering the company through commercial challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic during the last 18 months, and the efforts she has made to address the emotional toll of the pandemic on employees.

Houghton comments: “It’s a huge honour to have won the first ever Transport and Logistics Businesswoman of the Year award. I hope it shines a positive light on our industry which is such a pleasure to work in. I must also thank each and every one of my colleagues at Business Moves Group.

“The business wouldn’t be in this position without them so this is recognition for everyone’s efforts.”
