A New Milestone for GlobalConnect’s North European Fiber Network

Digital infrastructure and datacomms provider GlobalConnect Group is now operating 100,000 km of interconnected fiber network in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and northern Germany following the acquisition of Telenor SE communication operator, Open Universe.

With the ongoing deployment of a mega-capacity fiber cable from Luleå to Berlin and with more than 2,500 km of new fiber optics installations during the first quarter of 2022, GlobalConnect’s interconnected fiber network is the largest in the Nordic region and is already realising the benefits of high-capacity connectivity services for enterprises and a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) customer base of 650,000 users.

“The 100,000 km milestone is a result of our ever-continuing efforts to digitise our region, which we have been pursuing for the last twenty years”, says CEO, Martin Lippert. “We are out in the field daily, deploying new fiber optics in the ground and connecting society with services and infrastructure that will last for generations.”
