Aramark Manages Grounds at Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center

In spring 2022, Aramark Facilities Management was chosen to lead the grounds management at a California facility where the world’s top athletes train to compete in the events of their lives.

Whether it’s a residence or a commercial property, a lush lawn, stately trees, and professional landscaping are highly sought-after. For athletes who rely on a perfectly maintained field to help them train for the top events in the world, however, grounds management becomes an even higher priority.

Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, an official United States Olympic and Paralympic Training Site, is a 155-acre, year-round residential performance facility outside San Diego that houses seven natural grass fields where athletes, along with their coaches and trainers, hone their skills to compete in soccer, rugby, track and field, rowing, beach volleyball, and other sports.

The Aramark team on-site will include a sports turf and grounds manager, an irrigation expert, a grounds crew for mowing and care of sports turf, and arborists to provide tree trimming services. The team will utilize new state-of-the-art equipment, agronomist consultation for soil management, quarterly soil sampling of the turf, and a satellite grounds map to help schedule work, among other services.

“We support the best athletes in the world and work with the best vendors in the world, as well. The team at Aramark are the best at what they do and a key partner in delivering a great athlete experience at our training center,” says Brian Melekian, President and Chief Operating Officer, Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, in the press release. “It will be an exciting road leading into the LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and our vision is to be a world’s leading sports performance training center helping athletes and teams win medals.”

Opened in 1995, Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center offers world class athletic facilities with training camps, clinics, resident programs, and special events, along with housing and dining services
