RICS Accepts Recommendations of Independent Governance Review

The Governing Council of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has strongly endorsed recommendations made in an independent report by former chief executive of Brent and Gloucestershire Councils, and the UK Benefits Agency, Baron Bichard into the organisation’s governance, purpose and future.
Key recommendations of the report which was commissioned following widely publicised member dissatisfaction over a report into the dismissal of four non-executive directors in 2021, include handing decision-making to members and ensuring the Institution’s activities are centred on the public advantage.
RICS will now commence on the practical implementation of the recommendations, and has announced the establishment of five new working groups to take them forward. A summary of recommendations can be read on page 64 of the report (below).
