The British Standards Institution (BSI) will showcase BSI Identify, its ingenious product traceability service that is set to improve building safety and standards, at Futurebuild 2023.

Visitors to the three-day conference, which this year is taking a stand for a better built environment, will be able to enjoy an exclusive, free demonstration of BSI Identify’s capabilities courtesy of the expert sales team.

BSI Identify uses digital object identifier (DOI) technology to allow specifiers and installers universal access to proven, accurate, resilient product data. Due to its provision of unambiguous, persistent asset information for the entire building supply chain, BSI Identify conforms to industry calls for building stakeholders to have access to a golden thread of information.

Ross Matthews, Head of Sales at BSI Identify, says: “We are excited to be exhibiting Identify at Futurebuild 2023. BSI only creates products when it feels they will make a positive difference and that there is a need for them within a particular sector. The Identify system is one such solution. It is a tried-and-tested counter to the ongoing issue of ‘bad’ or insufficient product data, an issue that is responsible for 14% of rework of worldwide refurbishment projects.

The revolution in the product identification process is coming. In this sense, early adopters of the technology will be ahead of the curve. Visitors to Futurebuild 2023 will be able to see for themselves how BSI Identify will benefit the building industry whilst transforming their business model. Do not miss out on this rare opportunity to glimpse first-hand the technology that will significantly contribute to a safer, better-built environment.”

DOI technology uses a Universal Persistent Identification Number (UPIN) to provide contractors, installers and inspectors with immediate anytime, anywhere access to accurate, resilient product data via a mobile phone or laptop. For manufacturers, such traceability safeguards their products from being de-specified for cheaper, inferior solutions. Moreover, early adopters of product ID technology will futureproof their business against legislative changes. A proposal for all building products to feature a unique identification code is included in the latest Construction Product Regulations draft.

BSI Identify will be located at stand F66 at Futurebuild 2023, which takes place from March 7th to March 9th at London’s ExCeL.
