Mitie has been awarded Silver Status by evidence-based accreditation tool, Inclusive Employers Standard.
To receive the accreditation, organisations must demonstrate how they are delivering against six pillars of inclusion and diversity: Engage, Equip, Empower, Embed, Evaluate and Evolve. Having been measured across all six pillars, Mitie achieved the ‘Silver Status’ at its first submission.
The accreditation reflects Mitie’s significant investment in equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) initiatives across its business. Specific initiatives include Count Me In (a learning programme to promote ‘conscious’ inclusion), its Giving Back school volunteering scheme, and Ready2Work which provides work placements for people who have experienced barriers to employment.
The facility services provider also operates six employee networks focused on supporting inclusion across the business, encouraging colleagues to engage and have conversations around diversity. These networks include CHORD (its race and ethnicity network), Mitie Military (its Armed Forces veterans, reservists and family members network), Mitie Women Can (its gender equality network), Parents and Carers, Proud to Be (its LGBTQ+ network) and Enable (its network dedicated to disability and neurodiversity related topics). Furthermore, Mitie has recently announced the Inclusion Allies programme which empowers employees to align themselves with, and promote the inclusion of, different diverse groups.
Mitie has been recognised with several awards and accreditations for its diversity and inclusion initiatives. In October 2022, the group received a silver award at the UK Social Mobility Awards (SOMOs) in the ‘Community Programme of the Year’ category for its school volunteering programme, ‘Giving Back’, and was recently named a Top 50 Inclusive UK employer for the fifth year running (ranking in 17th place).
