ASM Global Appoints Events Industry Veteran as GM of Pennsylvania Convention Center

ASM Global has appointed venue and events veteran Tony Hodgins as general manager of the Pennsylvania Convention Center (PCC).

PCC is located in Center City Philadelphia at the heart of the city’s many cultural offerings and world-class dining and entertainment scene. Managed by ASM Global, the center is the 14th largest facility in the United States and features one of the largest exhibit spaces and ballrooms in the Northeastern. Meetings, conventions, trade shows and other events hosted by the center attract attendees from across the country and around the world, making the facility the largest economic driver of the region’s hospitality industry.

Hodgins served as an executive of award-winning exhibition organizer Freeman for 30 years, also leading the company’s Northeast region team’s efforts to win the ‘Freeman Customer Service Award’ for the first time by creating dynamic events experiences.

PCC is part of the ASM Global portfolio, the largest and most diverse network of premier convention and trade show venues for millions of exhibitors and attendees across an extensive worldwide footprint that spans five continents.

Dan Hoffend, ASM Global’s Executive Vice President of convention centers, says: “The center continues to grow as a hub for many of the world’s significant conventions and events; and with Tony’s longtime experience with one of the area’s iconic and most popular destinations, we anticipate PCC’s growth will be even more robust in coming years.”

“On behalf of the board of directors at the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, we are thrilled to welcome Tony Hodgins as the general manager of our facility,” adds David Nasatir, chair of the board, Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority. “PCC takes seriously its role as an economic driver for Philadelphia’s hospitality and tourism industry, and Mr Hodgins’ broad and longstanding experience in this sector will help to maintain the center’s position as one of the nation’s premier meeting and convention facilities.”

We are fortunate to have Mr Hodgins, a hospitality industry and labor operations veteran, join our team

“Philadelphia’s meetings and events industry is thriving, and Pennsylvania Convention Center has seen a steady return of many of our major conferences and events,” says Malik Staten, vice chair of the board of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority. “We are fortunate to have Mr Hodgins, a hospitality industry and labor operations veteran, join our team; and we look forward to the continued progression of the center under his leadership.”

Hodgins adds: “I look forward to working closely with our clients, regional partners and the Authority to support the hospitality community and provide customized solutions that are the hallmark of ASM Global. I’m excited to work with our convention center leadership team to leverage ASM Global’s industry-leading innovations to deliver exceptional experiences for organizers, attendees and exhibitors.”

As general manager, Hodgins will oversee the successful operations of the convention center, including its recently launched Hospitality Industry Advancement Trust Fund program which is a partnership between the center’s management and its trade show labor partners.
