Compass Expands Partnership to Tackle Homelessness

Compass Group UK & Ireland has extended its partnership with the social enterprise, Change Please, with the aim of increasing national coverage of the plight of homeless people.

Under the renewed collaboration, Compass will operate retail sites on behalf of Change Please in a range of settings, including hospitals, defence, travel, education and visitor attractions.

Change Please invests all of its profits into helping homeless individuals, offering them a living wage job, housing, training, and onward opportunities through its coffee sales. Compass has supported the social enterprise by providing its wholesale coffee offer for several years across hundreds of sites in six countries worldwide.

The first unit to open under the new agreement is Willen Lakes, with trading beginning in late March 2023. Compass is committed to supporting Change Please’s mission by providing trainee work placements and potential ongoing employment for homeless individuals in all the new sites in which the organizations work together.

Andrew Jones, MD – One Retail, part of Compass Group UK & Ireland, highlights a commitment contained in the group’s “Our Social Promise” initiative to providing opportunities for over a million people by 2030, noting the new collaboration with Change Please is an agenda supported by employees as well as staff.

Working with Compass to support our retail remit is a great opportunity for national expansion.

Cemal Ezal, founder of Change Please, says: “Working with Compass to support our retail remit is a great opportunity for national expansion.

“With their expert, operational support we hope to grow our brand – in turn freeing up our expertise to help more homeless people and providing them with life changing skills and careers.”
