ISS Guckenheimer Ranks First for Protein Sustainability

ISS Guckenheimer has been awarded a first-place ranking for a second consecutive year in an assessment of climate friendly plant-based food offerings by The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).
HSUS’s annual ‘Protein Sustainability Scorecard’ assesses foodservice companies, and highlighted the measures that are being taken by the company, a business of Danish multinational facility services provider, ISS Group, to achieve sustainable food outcomes. It also identified a commitment to make 55 per cent of menu options plant-based by 2025 as the “strongest plant-based goal to date.”
We fully embrace our leadership role in the industry to carry out our operations in ways that promote environmental sustainability and also improve animal welfare.
“Achieving the top ranking on this important industry benchmark, amid so much competition, is a testament to the strategy we’ve put in place and the exceptional work of our teams in delivering highly nutritious, flavorful, and environmentally friendly food choices to our clients and Placemakers,” says Paul Fairhead, CEO of ISS Guckenheimer. “We fully embrace our leadership role in the industry to carry out our operations in ways that promote environmental sustainability and also improve animal welfare.”
The non-profit organization which is dedicated to animal welfare evaluated food service providers across three areas related to sustainability: transparency, goals, and a plan of action. The full Protein Sustainability Scorecard can be found at HumaneSociety.org/FoodReport.
The accolade is the latest in a series of sustainability-focused achievements and milestones for ISS Group. Earlier this year, it joined the Beans is How coalition to encourage more plant-protein consumption, promote soil health, improve nutrition, and provide increased access to food at a lower cost while doing so. Other recent sustainability-focused achievements and milestones have included: committing to reaching full net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, signing the Cool Food pledge, halving food waste in the coming years, adopting a program to reduce hunger and divert surplus food.
ISS Guckenheimer’s food services offering includes cafes and culinary experiences; catering, events, and executive dining; micro-kitchens and pop-ups; coffee and espresso.
