Swedish heat pump manufacturer Qvantum has appointed industry veteran Wolfgang Herold as managing director of its new subsidiary, Qvantum Energietechnik GmbH.

Herold brings over 18 years of industry experience to the role, having held senior positions at heat pump manufacturers in Germany and in other European countries.

The company, which has developed and produced heat pumps and energy systems for next (5fth) generation district heating and cooling solutions since 1993, was the winner of a ‘Design Plus Award’ at the ISH exhibition in Frankfurt in March.

Harold says, “I really look forward to the opportunity to introduce this new but experienced and highly innovative brand to the German market and make a mark.

“Spreading knowledge about heat pumps is one of my driving forces. I genuinely want to create change and make things better. Qvantum is a company where this is a part of the DNA and not just words. That is why I am convinced that we will have a significant impact on the market”

The new company will be based in Bavaria and will work with installers and consultants across Germany. It is also embarking on a major recruitment drive (experienced heat pump professionals in Germany should visit https://www.qvantum.com/).

The expansion is supported by an investment of €42 million from leading Swedish investors Including Thomas von Koch (Partner and ex CEO of global private equity firm EQT) who is supporting Qvantum through his family office, the IMAS Foundation (a sister foundation of the INGKA Foundation which owns INGKA Group and operating most IKEA stores globally, and Munters AB – a global leader in energy efficient air treatment and climate solutions.

A new factory with capacity to produce 50,000 units annually is currently being commissioned to serve an expanding market and leverage Qvantum’s expertise in servicing the domestic market in Sweden where heat pumps have been specified in homes since 1990. Quantum also operates a subsidiary in the United Kingdom.
