ISS Partners with Watershed to Advance Full-Scope Carbon Reductions

Listen to this article

ISS is accelerating its progress towards full-scope net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040 by implementing enterprise climate platform, Watershed’s carbon accounting solution across its global operations.

All ISS country teams across ISS’s more than 30 markets will be empowered with the capability to measure and manage their own carbon footprint, thereby quantifying the impacts of the integrated facility services provider’s services and products across customer accounts and operations. ISS will use these data driven insights to support customers in building and advancing their net zero roadmaps, as well as unlocking new opportunities for progressing full-scope carbon reductions.

We recognise the magnitude of the ongoing climate and environmental crisis. And we are committed to continuously advancing our operations towards a more sustainable future

Troels Bjerg, Regional CEO Asia-Pacific/Americas/Germany & Global Business Performance at ISS A/S, says: “We recognise the magnitude of the ongoing climate and environmental crisis. And we are committed to continuously advancing our operations towards a more sustainable future, working closely together with our dedicated customers, innovative partners and trusted suppliers. The Watershed-ISS partnership will allow us to streamline our calculation and measurement models on a global scale, enhancing transparency and generating data driven insights that can accelerate our carbon reduction efforts for our customers.”

Markus Sontheimer, CIDO, adds: “ISS’s own IT ‘eco system’ is being set up to centrally collect data directly from local and global systems before passing the data on to the Watershed platform for analysis and processing.

“The platform delivers insights and highlights risks and opportunities for decarbonisation by applying industry-leading methodologies and emission factors.

“The local country teams will then be able to obtain audit-ready carbon footprints and supply chain transparency empowering them with the ability to make data driven decisions and steer local decarbonisation efforts.”

Full Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions measurement and reporting is rapidly becoming a requirement for companies around the world.

Christian Anderson, Watershed co-founder, comments: “Full Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions measurement and reporting is rapidly becoming a requirement for companies around the world. Watershed’s granular operational and supply chain measurements will empower ISS to manage its global carbon footprint, fulfil newly stringent climate disclosure requirements like The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and, most importantly, to take action to reduce their carbon footprint.”

The first ISS country-level footprints will be available early next year. During 2023, ISS will pilot a customer reporting process together with a key customer. Broader customer reporting will be rolled out in 2024.
