The Philadelphia Eagles are the first professional sports team in North America to introduce a hydrogen refueling station for power passenger at their stadium.
Installed by PDC Machines, the refueling station at Lincoln Financial Field will take electricity from the stadium’s 10,456 solar panels and add water. The only emission from hydrogen energy is water vapor, a significantly cleaner fuel compared to gasoline and diesel.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in the Control Lot (located on the right-hand side of Darien Street) at Lincoln Financial Field on Friday, 22nd September at 10 a.m., with Don Smolenski (President, Philadelphia Eagles), Josh Shapiro (Governor of Pennsylvania), Kareem Afzal (Executive Chairman, PDC Machines), and Kenyatta Johnson (Philadelphia City Council member) in attendance.
Following remarks and the ribbon cutting, the unit will fuel its first vehicle – the team’s hydrogen-powered Hyundai Nexo.
The Eagles announced a multi-year sustainability partnership with PDC Machines in February 2020.
