Digital payment provider Visa Inc., has installed the Vimpex Hydrosense Water Leak Detection System at its new Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) headquarters.
The solution protects buildings from water ingress to safeguard critical electrical, communication and computer networks.
Spanning 100,000 square feet, the new location in Dubai will initially accommodate around 500 employees and has been designed to cater for a staff of up to 750. Visa operates in around 90 countries across the region.
An innovative solution to leak detection
According to Vimpex, its Hydrosense platform ‘preserves the integrity, control and reliability of life safety and building infrastructure systems’ to protect against water ingress by continuously monitoring for water leaks. In a country that experiences power failures, the solution is supported by a 72-hour battery standby feature.
On detection of a leak, a control panel sounds an alarm that can be extended to any remote location. When an alarm is raised, voice sounders are typically used to broadcast an unambiguous message, avoiding confusion with other sounders on site.
‘Escape of Water’ claims relating to commercial buildings are consistently the most expensive for insurers. In the United Kingdom alone, these claims cost insurers £2.5 million a day which equates to around £1 billion (US $1.27 billion) annually.
