Las Vegas’ burgeoning Summerlin district is the location for a groundbreaking venture as two industry giants, Howard Hughes Holdings and Sony Entertainment, forge ahead with plans to build a state-of-the-art movie studio and mixed-use complex valued at $1.8 billion.
Following approval its approval by the Clark County Zoning Commission, the project is expected to create in excess of 10,000 new jobs in western LA.
The project was inspired by a 2022 article in the Las Vegas Review-Journal which outlined Mark Wahlberg’s aspiration to establish a studio presence in Las Vegas according to Howard Hughes Holdings CEO, David O’Reilly.
The Clark County Zoning Commission’s approval includes variances to the design that are considered crucial for the development of Summerlin Production Studios and the adjoining mixed-use precinct on Town Center Drive, strategically located near the 215 Beltway. On completion, the development will feature 10 structures spanning approximately 500,000 square feet, customised to accommodate a cutting-edge film studio and production facility.
Moreover, the mixed-use development will seamlessly integrate 100,000 square feet of retail, culinary, and corporate space, synergising with the film studio.
Additional amenities include an emergency room facility, a satellite office for Clark County administration, and an existing Clark County fire station, augmenting the area’s infrastructure.
