Listen to this article

Serco has been named a ‘Veteran Employer of Choice’ by the Department of Veterans Affairs and inducted as a Gold Member of the Defence Reserves Supportive Employer Program by the Australian Defence Force (ADF) Reserves & Employer Support Division.

As a partner of the ADF for more than 25 years, the support services provider is committed to supporting those who have served, and those who continue to serve the nation.

We are incredibly proud to have our Veteran and Reservist employment support programs recognised by the Government

Serco Defence Managing Director Clint Thomas, AM, CSC, says: “We are incredibly proud to have our Veteran and Reservist employment support programs recognised by the Government.

“Employing more than 700 reservists and veterans across Australia, we respect the immense value they bring to our teams and continue to foster an inclusive environment where they are set up for success.”

Serco has been proactive in contributing to policy development and providing substantial support through such initiatives as:

  • Serving as a leading member of the Industry Advisory Committee on Veterans’ Employment, contributing to the creation of Ministerial advice; and
  • Establishing the Veterans, Reservists and Defence Families Advisory Committee that actively engages with our SercoVets community, to develop policy and systems to support and drive improvement initiatives across the business.

The group’s wider commitment to the veteran community includes:

  • Being a foundational signatory of the Veterans Employment Commitment with the Department of Veterans Affairs;
  • Prioritising veteran-owned businesses when selecting supply chain partners, in line with the Australian Defence Industry Participation policy;
  • Financially supporting the Veterans Community Business Chamber and actively contributing to programs that support veterans, such as Pathway programs run by Soldier On, the RSL and HomeBaseSA; and
  • Enabling mobility for Defence families by offering flexible job opportunities for ADF partners and spouses.
