More than 3,000 volunteers in 13 countries will donate their time to support local communities on 10th April when the company celebrates ‘Aramark Building Community’ (ABC) Day.
The company’s flagship volunteer program has operated for over a decade and addresses critical needs – in addition to impacting communities by providing employment opportunities in the hospitality industry, improving food security, and encouraging environmental stewardship.
As an extension of Aramark’s year-round efforts to strengthen local communities, we unite our global workforce to volunteer every year on ABC Day…
This ABC Day, Aramark volunteers will participate in projects benefiting more than 120 local communities in the United States, Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Chile, China, Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britian, Ireland, Mexico, Northern Ireland, and South Korea.
Key projects to be supported by volunteers include:
- Philadelphia, PA: 150 volunteers will return for the third time to the R.W. Brown Boys & Girls Club through Caring People Alliance to build outdoor furniture, paint custom murals inspired by students, host a food tasting for preschool students, and create herb planters with senior citizens.
- Dallas, TX: 125 volunteers will return to Buckner International’s Children and Family Services Campus to paint their family cottages and host a healthy eating food demonstration. This marks the 10th anniversary of collaboration with this organization on ABC Day.
- Greater Washington, DC: More than 50 volunteers will paint murals throughout the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Germantown Club and provide a healthy snack demonstration for school students.
- Phoenix, AZ: More than 50 volunteers will create a mural for the school library, host a “fun with fruits and veggies” demonstration, and repaint the outdoor basketball courts at Solano Elementary School.
- Mexico City, Mexico: Volunteers will build healthier and more energy-efficient stoves that use up to 50 percent less firewood to support local families and improve environmental outcomes.
- Seoul, South Korea: Volunteers will provide healthy meals for hundreds of seniors and school aged children.
Debbie Albert, SVP of Aramark Corporate Affairs tells FM Magazine: “Aramark is a hospitality company at its core,” “Intentionally giving back to the communities where we live and work is just another way our employees embody Aramark’s core values and strive to do great things for each other, our partners, our communities, and the planet.”
“The dedication and passion of our volunteers is truly remarkable,” adds Kirsten Markovich, Community Relations Director. “As an extension of Aramark’s year-round efforts to strengthen local communities, we unite our global workforce to volunteer every year on ABC Day, engaging thousands to dedicate their time, energy, and expertise to service projects in their community. We are grateful for our community partners who allow us to share in their service and make an impact locally.”
Hundreds of volunteers will additionally participate in virtual events, engaging team members at multiple Aramark locations. These events will support sustainable projects and provide a creative and collaborative opportunity for volunteers to give back no matter their physical location.
Since its launch, ABC Day has created volunteer experiences for thousands of people directly and indirectly supported an estimated 2.1 million people globally.
