Wasabi Unveils Premium Summer Menu

Wasabi has shared details of its new menu for the summer which focuses on the ‘Omakase’ style of dining.

Translating as “I’ll leave it up to you” in Japanese, the Omakase box will invite consumers to enjoy a fresh, gourmet to-go meal box containing seven luxurious courses to enjoy. Bringing the chef-inspired concept to the high street, this new menu offering brings customers the experience of a tasting menu in a quick, convenient format.

Wasabi’s summer menu for this year was developed based on a couple of themes that we identified in the market including specialness and unique flavours, along with experiential-led dining on the rise, we applied this to our Asian heritage as a brand.

The box is designed to be eaten in a specific order, beginning with a light Edamame Bean Salad before moving onto more complex Asian flavours. These include Salmon & Tuna Sashimi, Asian Slaw & Pickled Daikon, Yellowfin Tuna and Salmon Nigiri, Yellowfin Tuna Dragon Roll, Spicy Tuna Inari Pocket and Cucumber, Avocado and Tuna Hosomaki served with Ponzu Dressing, Soya Sauce & Wasabi. 

Florence Gardner-Hillman, Wasabi Food Product Developer, comments: “Wasabi’s summer menu for this year was developed based on a couple of themes that we identified in the market including specialness and unique flavours, along with experiential-led dining on the rise, we applied this to our Asian heritage as a brand. Omakase was the perfect answer to these trends, in order to allow consumers the opportunity to experience a range of sushi options. The summer menu also champions tuna that we will be bringing back into the range with a multitude of showcase products.”

Tucked into bespoke packaging with gold foiling, the boxes are given an embossed Tokubetsu sticker for a premium finish. In addition, Wasabi is also introducing a wider range of seasonal dishes to their summer spread, including a Jewelled Donburi, Prawn Crunch Dragon Roll and a California Potto, as well as bringing back two fan favourites, their Rainbow Set, and Tuna Hosomaki. 

Customers can also join the free Wasabi Rewards Program, allowing them to earn rewards with every visit, also earning double points across the new menu range all summer long.
