The 42nd edition of CIFF Shanghai will be held at the National Exhibition & Convention Center (Shanghai) in Hongqiao from 10 to 13 September 2018 and will be even more unique than in previous years.
New perspectives and opportunities for the furniture industry
To meet the common aspiration for a better quality of life, CIFF Shanghai 2018 will consider what the concept of a Home Life means globally in relation to areas such as quality, service provision, catering for day-to-day situations and events, the manufacturing resource usage - and the responsibilities of suppliers to support new lifestyles and set new design trends that influence consumer buying patterns.
The 42nd edition of CIFF Shanghai will host more than 1,200 exhibitors and cover a total exhibition area of 400,000 square metres whose layout is definitely optimized.
It offers the Imported Furniture at Hall 3 and High-end Customized Furniture at North Hall to promote the consumption upgrade of the home furnishing industry.
It keeps up with the trends of design, mild luxury and neo-Chinese style to create the Trendy Furniture at Hall 4 and the Quality Furniture at Hall 5; it takes advantage of Shanghai's leading position in design in China to create the Design Innovation Zone and highlight its leading functions, providing solutions for the global home lifestyles.
CIFF Shanghai gives full play to the advantages of the themes in the entire industry chain and further optimizes the Furniture Machinery & Woodworking Machinery, Homedecor & Hometextile, Outdoor & Leisure and Office Show.
The Outdoor & Leisure and Homedecor & Hometextile are organized in Halls 1.1 & 2.1 meet the one-stop sourcing needs for home furnishings with more varied products.
The Office Show in hall 8.2 includes commercial office and hotel furniture; while the Woodworking Machinery sector, renamed “China International Furniture Machinery & Woodworking Machinery Fair (Shanghai)” after the joint venture with Adsale Exhibition Services Co. in Halls 7.1 and 8.1, having doubled the scale of the exhibition area from last year.

China International Furniture Machinery & Woodworking Machinery Fair (Shanghai) will introduce the wood-based panel machinery brands such as the German giants Homag, Weinig, Siempelkamp, Wenhoener, the big Italian groups Biesse and Scm, the Austrian Andritz and Berndorf, the Scandinavian Sandvik and Valmet, in addition to the most important Chinese constructors and operators as Nanxing, Jinan Restar, Yalian, Foma Group, Swpm, Lmt, Ruiwudi, Leke, Huajian, Yuantina, Lianrou, Hengkang, Fuyi and Zinqunli.

The EAST Design Show
Now in its fourth edition, curated by Mr. Zhu Xiaojie and Mr. Hou Zhengguang, the EAST Design Show is unquestionably the essential Asian design promotion event, where the finest products take shape, amaze and impassion. The spirit of Asian artisanship, rediscovered in all its power, is celebrated by the selection of leading companies, workshops and events such as Wall Art Gallery, Youth Collection and EAST Design Salon, where the concept of design and quality becomes essential and the Chinese product returns to be a protagonist. This year’s theme is “More Different, More Interesting”: a fascinating topic, never investigated sufficiently, extremely relevant in years marked by globalisation.
Two Creative Cities (Shanghai & Milan)
CIFF and Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design have successfully cooperated with Camera di Commercio Italo Cinese to launch the “Sino-Italian Design Cooperation Forum” under the theme of “Excellent City, New Lifestyle”, starting the Two Creative Cities (Shanghai & Milano), witnessed by Shanghai Municipal Government and Milan Municipal Government. Besides, both parties will jointly create the Two Creative Cities (Shanghai & Milan) Design Academy Exchange Zone to expand the influence of Chinese design in the international design circles.
The Pinnacle Awards Asia-Pacific
In China since 2017, the Pinnacle Awards Asia-Pacific, promoted by CIFF, by the American Society of Furniture Designers (ASFD) and by High Point Market, is the only international furniture and home-furnishing prize in the Asia-Pacific region. Part of the Pinnacle Awards, Pinnacle Awards Asia-Pacific and CIFF work together in order to improve quality and design in China and in Asia as a whole.
Many events are scheduled to take place during CIFF Shanghai, including the Pinnacle Awards Asia-Pacific 2018 ceremony, when the winners of the 16 competition categories will be announced, and the newly shortlisted award-winning works 2018 created by Mr. Campion Platt, the world-known designer, will be showcased on site.
C Foundation Forum
The C Foundation Forum founded by C Foundation will debut in CIFF. It is an event that will group together professional operators from various sectors, such as design, art, and culture, proposing a stimulating platform where ideas can be discussed. It will go deep into the design, art and cultural circles and invite many crossover opinion leaders contributing to the development of educational programmes in cultural art design, architecture and interior design.
Established in 2014, by 10 interior designers from Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the C Foundation is the first volunteer charitable design foundation in China.
China Interiors & Decorations Conference
China Interiors & Decorations Conference 2018 (Autumn) will provide for the organization of multiple design forums focusing on the theme of “Design·Beginning”, inviting famous designers as Lai Yanan, Shen Baohong and Ge Yaxi to share how the furniture industry combines with the design service industry and to work with enterprises and designers to expand the future business development.
Design Dream Show
The Design Dream Show, hosted by Innovation Design Alliance, will debut in CIFF Shanghai 2018 with the aim of expressing the concepts and trends in contemporary home furnishing with unique perspectives under the theme of “New Creative Movement”. It will as always cooperate with the top brands in the home furnishing industry symbolising the development of Chinese design, mirroring a world that is changing rapidly.
Office Life Theme Pavilion
Designed and curated by the famous designer Xu Zhaoming, the Office Life Theme Pavilion analyses the theme of workspace fashion and invite the architects, interior designers and product designers to explore new ideas about office life and demonstrate the new office trends, where the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere sparks inspiration and increases the efficiency levels of managers and employees.
Shanghai Design Events
CIFF, in cooperation with Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design, creates the design events during the 42nd CIFF Shanghai, interacting with 50 well-known art and design institutions in Shanghai to tap Shanghai’s cultural and creative resources, forming a multi-dimensional crossover event, lighting up all over China. It will certainly attract more excellent designers, achieve seamless matching between designers and exhibitors and between designers and audiences.
