2019 Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index

Company News, EMEA, Americas, APAC, Service Provider News

Sodexo is one of 230 companies to be included in this year's Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI), an annual listing which distinguishes organisations committed to transparency in gender reporting and advancing women’s equality.

Commenting on the listing, Rohini Anand, Senior Vice President Corporate Responsibility and Global Chief Diversity Officer for Sodexo, said:

"Our global gender balance strategy is a key driver in ensuring that both women and men have equal access to growth and opportunities in our workplace. Achieving gender equality drives our performance and is critical to reaching a Better Tomorrow for our employees, our clients and consumers, and the communities we serve. Under the leadership of our SoTogether advisory board, gender equality will help us attract talent, better understand consumers and empower women."

In 2018 the group undertook an internal Gender Balance Study to expand previous research on the business case for women in leadership to the business case for parity in representation of men and women in management positions and continues to champion gender equality as a strategic imperative.

Women currently make up 37 per cent of Sodexo's Executive Committee and 54 per cent of its Board of Directors, and are additionally represented in gender networks across the global organisation.

Sodexo has re-iterated its goal of achieving a minimum 40 per cent representation of women in senior leadership positions by 2025 - a target linked to 10 per cent of annual bonuses paid out to senior executives (both male and female).

“We applaud Sodexo and the other 229 firms tracked by the index for their action to measure gender equality through the Bloomberg GEI framework,” said Peter T. Grauer, Chairman of Bloomberg and Founding Chairman of the U.S. 30% Club.

“Sodexo’s GEI inclusion is a strong indicator to its employees, investors and industry peers alike that it is leading by example to advance ongoing efforts for a truly inclusive workplace.”
