Oxford Direct Services (ODS) has refurbished public conveniences at Abbey Meadow Park in Abingdon under its first contract for the Vale of White Horse District Council.
The renovation and refurbishment of an ageing facility into a modern public toilet with wheelchair accessibility, baby changing facilities, and unisex toilets as well as men’s urinals, was the final part of a revamp that has already transformed an external play area and pool.
Commenting on ODS, Dylan Evans, Active Communities Manager at Vale of White Horse District Council, described the council's relationship with the contractor as straightforward and positive, adding:
"They understood our priorities and completed the work within the agreed time and budget."
Steve Carter, ODS Contracts Manager, said:
"We understand the importance of social projects and recognise the need to be considerate when working in public spaces, such as the park."
ODS which is incorporated as a social enterprise was created by the transfer of Oxford City Council's direct service activities to a new, wholly-owned subsidiary last year.
