The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has added the 100th guidance document to its comprehensive reference library which has been created as a useful source of information for the FM sector.

The landmark figure has been achieved with the addition of Technical Information Sheet 46 which is entitled, 'Transportable Gas Cylinders – Valve Life'.

BCGA provides a wealth of information on how to safely use, store, transport and handle industrial, medical and food gases – with documents of interest to a wide-range of sectors where gases are used including, as well as facilities management, the education and campus, manufacturing, food and drink processing, automotive,  healthcare and facilities management, welding, transport and logistics industries.

All documents can be accessed via the publications area of the association's website without charge.

BCGA bringing together industry expertise from across its membership and other sources, all overseen by its specialist technical sub-committees.

CEO Doug Thornton, says:

"The compressed gases sector is the UK’s ‘invisible industry,’ with industrial, medical and food gases playing a critical role in many aspects of life, underpinning a safe, successful and healthy nation.

"Members of BCGA operate in a highly-regulated industry and work together on technical, safety, health and environmental issues to achieve high standards of integrity and environmental care, both within their own and customers’ working environments.

"BCGA’s mission is to ensure safety in the use, storage, transportation and handling of industrial, food and medical gases.

"Our respected publications are key to that and significant resources are deployed to bring each of our them together."

BCGA also participates in promoting good safety practice by participating in the preparation and revision of UK, European and International Standards.
