The Edmonton Chapter of CPAs is hosting an event on Data Security and we would love you to join us for an interactive session that would analyze some of these global trends, while looking at them from a local perspective.
The session highlights the 2021 IAPP-EY Annual Privacy Governance reports and present interesting trends on how COVID-19 has impacted the privacy function of organizations around the world, including the transition to the work-from-anywhere model, as well as the impact that different privacy regulations are bringing to the processing of personal information globally

Melanie Carpenter, Manager, Technology Consulting / Cybersecurity, EY
Carlos Chalico
Carlos Chalico is a cybersecurity and privacy professional with 25 years of experience. He joined EY in Mexico City in 1996 and is now part of the firm’s cybersecurity and privacy team in Toronto. Carlos has helped many organization resolve their cybersecurity and privacy issues. In addition to working for EY, Carlos is an instructor for the University of Toronto School of Continuing Studies. He also volunteers for ISACA, IAPP, Hispanotech and ALPFA. He has many personal certifications in cybersecurity and privacy and is constantly being invited to speak at different conferences.
Melanie Carpenter
Melanie Carpenter, CISSP is a cybersecurity professional based out of Calgary, Alberta with over 20 years of experience. Melanie helps clients improve their cyber security maturity by developing strategic programs and actionable roadmaps based on the client’s current state and threat landscape. Outside of EY, Melanie is a busy mother of two who enjoys being out in the foothills or mountains.
